Education Program

  • Certification Courses

    Goshen First Aid Crew, Inc hosts a variety of courses that is presented by a certified instructor on the topic and provides the attendee with a certification that can be used to save lives and can aid in obtaining employment. These courses are:

    Basic Life Support- Anyone who works in healthcare needs the American Heart Association certification for cardiac resuscitation. The cost for this course is $20 to cover the roster fee and the attendee’s certification card fee.

    CPR/First Aid- This course covers signs and symptoms of a heart attack, how to preform Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation, the Heimlich maneuver, and other first aid care techniques. We offer this course for free at least once a year and other times the cost is $50 to cover the roster fee, the CPR certification card fee, and the First Aid certification card.

    Designated Infection Control Officer- This course is maintained by the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads. Attendees will learn everything needed to be a DICO officer. This course is free to VAVRS members and the cost is $100 for non-VAVRS members.

    Emergency Medical Technician Certification Course- This course is a 4 month course that teaches students everything needed to be a successful EMT. This course is regulated by the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. After successful completion of this course, students are eligible to take the NREMT Certification Exam to become a licensed EMT. This course has a field experience/clinical component, as well as lectures and skills competencies. The cost of this course is $150, which covers the cost for the course materials and BLS certification. (There is a separate registration form for specifically for this course).

    Infectious Disease Control- This course is free for VAVRS members and costs $100 for non-VAVRS members. This course is an annual in-service requirement for all healthcare workers and volunteers. This course covers everything a person needs to know about infections diseases, how they spread, how to protect yourself, and more.

    REVIVE- This course is maintained by the Virginia Department of Health and is free at all times and has two separate course types, one for the general public and one for First Responders. This course covers Opioid overdose signs and symptoms, how to administer Narcan (naloxone), how to obtain Narcan (naloxone), and more.

    Stop The Bleed- This course is maintained by the Stop The Bleed Coalition which is a public sector of the Federal Department of Defense. This course is free at all times and has two types, the general public and First Responders. This course teaches the various types of wounds, bleeds, techniques and equipment used for bleeds, and how to control them.
