The Goshen First Aid Crew was formed in November of 1966 with 16 members of which 3 members were women. We continue to be a equal opportunity organization with a crew comprised of a blend of genders and cultural backgrounds.

In July of 1973, the crew broke ground on the location of our present squad building. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the crew hosting numerous fundraising events, the building was completely paid for when the last nail was driven.

Our crew started out with an old Cadillac hearse and now has two modern ALS ambulances and a crash truck.

Prior to the establishment of Goshen First Aid Crew, Inc, the only rescue services in the area was provided by the Sensabaugh-Zimmerman Funeral Home. In the event of an motor vehicle accident, it was not unusual to be forced to wait hours for the hearse or a rescue squad from the nearby cities of Lexington or Staunton to arrive on scene.

The late Millard L. Burke and the late Nettie Lee Quinlin Burke were instrumental in the creation of the Goshen First Aid Crew. These individuals along with Bobby Burke, Charles Whiteside, Richard Kirby, Doug Gentrey, Lillian Withrow, Stanley Paxton, L.G. Anderson, Larry Anderson, Aaron Wooddell, Buster Carter, Dreama Carter, Dickey Hall, and Marvin Powell created the first crew for Goshen First Aid Crew, Inc.

The Goshen First Aid Crew had the first AED shock in the CSEMS region done by life member Jeff Grimm in Millboro, Virginia.

Today, Goshen First Aid Crew, Inc is the last 100% volunteer comprised rescue squad in Rockbridge County, VA.
